Do You Need Health Care?

Medical

During the pandemic, bilingual health care professionals are available to discuss your medical concerns.  Call our hotline at 202-321-2816.

All patients are screened with health-related questions by phone. Appointments for urgent care or ongoing chronic care will be scheduled for telehealth or office visits. We are not accepting walk-ins.

Catholic Charites Center clinic hours in Silver Spring, Md., are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Spanish Catholic Center clinic hours in Northwest Washington are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Post-surgical appointments are available on Tuesdays.

The medical clinic at the Susan Dennison Mona Center in Temple Hills, Md., is managed by Doctors Community Hospital.  For their office hours and availability, contact 240-563-1026.


Behavioral

Clinical care at Anchor on Lawrence Street NE for behavioral health services is ongoing and community based.  Telehealth counseling and psychiatric care appointments are available.  Current clients may continue to receive medication by appointment by calling 202-635-5953.

ChAMPS continues to provide emergency response to children in psychiatric crisis 24 hours, 7 days a week. To access this service, call 202-481-1440.

Dental

The three dental clinics are temporarily closed.

Do You Need Access to Food?

Food Pantries

Our three pantries are collaborating with the SHARE Food Network to develop food packages based upon community need. The packages will include protein and fresh produce as they are available.  Personal care items, such as soap and diapers, and supplemental grocery gift cards are also available at each location in limited quantities.  Distribution is:

  • Catholic Charities Center, 12247 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, Md.
    Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Spanish Catholic Center, 1618 Monroe St. NW, Washington D.C.
    Wednesday, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This location has a bilingual hotline to help connect those in need with services: 301-453-5560.
  • Southern Maryland Food Bank, 22 Irongate, Waldorf, Md.
    Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Due to the economic crisis created by coronavirus, many people now qualify for benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).  For questions and support registering for SNAP benefits, contact 301-453-5560.


Mobile Food Trucks – St. Maria’s Meals and Meals & Hope

To ensure the safety of our clients and staff, prepared boxed meals are offered from our mobile food trucks as grab and go.

  • Susan Dennison Mona Center St. Maria’s Meals, 5859 Allentown Way, Temple Hills, Md.,
    Tuesday, 5 p.m.
  • James Cardinal Hickey Center St. Maria’s Meals, 924 G Street NW, Washington D.C.,
    Wednesday at 5 p.m.
  • Southern Maryland Food Bank Meals & Hope, rotating locations throughout Charles County,
    Monday and Wednesday evenings. Call 301-274-0695 for the current schedule and location.

Suspended: Friday morning service in Langley Park is suspended during the pandemic.


Do You Need Shelter?

Five low-barrier shelters operated by Catholic Charities on behalf of the District of Columbia are open 24 hours, 7 days a week. For locations, visit here.  Those seeking access to shelters are screened by health-related questions.  Boxed meals at lunch and dinner are offered.


Do You Need Legal or Financial Services Help?

Walk-in legal and financial service help is suspended at this time.

Legal in-take and remote service for civil and immigration legal assistance is available.

The Financial Stability Network has launched a Virtual VITA Service Delivery Model to help prepare taxes for current clients with incomes of $56,000 or less. This new model is focused on Form W2 taxpayers who expect a tax refund.
