Festive sit-down dinner to be held along G Street NW
WASHINGTON, Dec. 12, 2023 — Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington will host a Christmas dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 20, in downtown D.C. for several hundred people who are experiencing hunger and homelessness.
The Christmas meal is part of Catholic Charities’ weekly St. Maria’s Meals program, which served more than 23,000 free hot meals in fiscal year 2023. Each week, St. Maria’s Meals is served on Wednesday evenings along G Street NW.
The Christmas meal of roast turkey with gravy, sweet potatoes, stuffing, collard greens, corn bread and a brownie made by Catholic Charities’ KitchenWork program will be served by volunteers in a festive sit-down dinner under the portico of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library across from Catholic Charities headquarters on G Steet NW. Carolers will entertain guests, who also will receive a special gift.
The special meal is one way Catholic Charities dignifies those facing overwhelming challenges and difficulties, showing these individuals that they are valued and respected.

When: 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20. Attendees are expected to start lining up early. Dinner service will take place rain or shine.
