Join Catholic Charities for An Unforgettable year of service

Catholic Charities Year of Service is a year-long volunteer program for post-graduates and professionals made available through many partnerships, such as AmeriCorps, Ignatian Volunteer Corps and the Capuchin Franciscan Corps. Experience a fulfilling opportunity to volunteer in education, healthcare, social services, and professional services. Year of Service Volunteers serve for one year, typically between 20-40 hours a week, and, depending on their program, receive compensation in the form of housing, monthly stipend or educational assistance.

Year of Service Volunteers will contribute to the largest independent social services agency in the Metropolitan D.C. area helping to provide critical services to hundreds of thousands of people in need throughout the District of Columbia and Montgomery, Prince George’s, Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s counties in Maryland.

Volunteers are mature men and women, most age 50 or better, who either have retired from their primary careers or work fewer hours as they move towards retirement. Volunteers commit to work two days a week for 10 months a year and play critical roles for the partner nonprofit agencies and the clients they serve.

What our Current Volunteers are Saying

“Being a VISTA volunteer in the Volunteer Engagement Office at Catholic Charities has a been an enlightening and rewarding experience. I worked with dedicated, kind, and professional people and gained new skills while transitioning from full-time work to retirement.”

– Lett Proctor, AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer

Cap Corps itself is one of the best things I have ever done! I have felt continuously supported throughout any concerns or questions, and the Capuchin community has helped me through its example to grow in peace, love, and gratitude. Overall, I am so thankful for this year’s experience and would recommend both Catholic Charities and Cap Corps to anyone looking to volunteer and grow spiritually, personally, and professionally.

– Melinda Renuart, Capuchin Franciscan Corps Volunteer
