Catholic Charities Statement on DACA Announcement

Statement from Msgnr. John Enzler, President & CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington

“Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington reiterates Cardinal Wuerl’s full support and echoing of the statement made by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. We too find it harmful and regrettable that the Trump Administration made the decision to end the DACA program in its current form and join those urging Congress to move swiftly on a permanent solution. Catholic Charities continues to serve all those in need, including the immigrant community, as we have since our founding in the 1920’s.”

Catholic Charities statement on HOMELESS SERVICES REFORM AMENDMENT ACT OF 2017

Statement from Msgnr. John Enzler, President & CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington

Catholic Charities supports the city’s proposed amendments to the Homeless Services Reform Act. With the belief that this will truly serve the homeless in our community who have not been served well in the past, we need to find a way to solve issues together. This includes the city, the non -profit community and our advocacy partners.  This is a step in the right direction.  As I have said in the past, this is rocket science, it is complicated and difficult. Let’s work together to make this happen.
