Hypothermia Shelters

Do you need shelter tonight in Washington, DC? During hypothermia alerts we make sure no one needs to spend a night on the streets when the temperature reaches dangerous lows.

The shelter hotline number is 1-800-535-7252.

Catholic Charities operates hypothermia shelters from November 1 to March 31, when temperatures can drop to deadly lows. Hypothermia shelters remain open between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. when and if temperatures drop below 32 F. Many clients we serve are especially vulnerable to dangerously cold weather, and we ensure our low-barrier shelters are open to accomodate as many people as possible.

For more information on our hypothermia shelters, including locations and transportation to and from each site, call the DC shelter hotline at 1-800-535-7252. Be a good neighbor - save this number on your cell phone in case you see someone in need!
