The Kennedy School
A program of Catholic Charities Developmental Disabilities Services
The Kennedy School is a non-public day school for children ages 6 – 22 with disabilities. We specialize in serving students with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, and Traumatic Brain Injuries. We utilize a small classroom, team-based approach, where we have no more than seven students per class and no less than three staff members per class. We support our students holistically, through behavioral and social emotional counseling, serious academic intervention focusing on Mathematics, internships that focus on employment skills, and physical education. Our students receive a different type of education here at Kennedy, which prepares them for a lifetime of learning.
Individualized Instruction: Small classroom size, low student-teacher ratio, differentiated instruction
Therapeutic Support: Social, Emotional, Speech and Language, Occupational and Physical Therapy
Transition Services: Job Club, internships, competitive employment, travel training, community involvement
Project Search: Kennedy School's new internship program, which gives youth with disabilities real work experience at the Department of Interior and Department of Commerce. Students are supported by their teacher, job coaches, therapists, and job-site supervisor. Students learn essential skills for entry level employment!
Intake: Students may be enrolled at Kennedy by referral only. Students who complete the intake process and are appropriate for the program are placed at Kennedy by OSSE. OSSE will also cover the student's tuition. To refer a student to the Kennedy School, please forward the following materials:
- Evaluations: Psychological, Educational, Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy and/or Physical Exam (only evaluations performed within the last 3 years will be accepted)
