Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
For men and women staying in the 5 low-barrier overnight emergency shelters and 3 of the transitional shelters operated by Catholic Charities, mornings often begin on an empty stomach. To meet this need, Catholic Charities is seeking volunteer groups to assemble healthy “breakfast to-go” bags to be distributed to these 8 shelters, which together provide a safe bed for 1,000+ women and men each night.
Can you commit your parish, your office, or your school to a one-time or ongoing commitment with Cup of Joe?
There are two ways you or your group can get involved with this exciting opportunity:
1. Join volunteers from throughout the archdiocese for our monthly Cup of Joe packing event at our SHARE Warehouse. It’s a fun, fast paced event and volunteers leave knowing they’ve helped to provide breakfast to those in need.
2. Host your own Cup of Joe. Gather your group, the supplies and host your own Cup of Joe event at a location and time of your choice! If you’d like to plan your own Cup of Joe for your group, we welcome your help! Staff are available to visit and speak with first-time Cup of Joe groups and even provide a demonstration. We will let you know where the breakfast packs are most needed. Groups typically commit to making 400 or more meals—enough to supply our largest shelter for a day.
