2021 Mission of Mercy to host 10 one-day dental clinics
The Mission of Mercy is a free dental clinic for adults with services provided by volunteer dental professionals.
The 2021 event will take the form of 10 monthly one-day dental clinics, beginning in September. Each clinic will be held on the third Saturday of the month (with the exception of December and July 2022) at one of Catholic Charities’ three dental clinics.
The services of volunteer dental professionals – dentists and dental assistants – will be needed, as will volunteers to serve as greeters, registrars and interpreters.
The free services for adult patients will take place monthly, with the first three clinics on Sept. 18 at the Catholic Charities Center in Silver Spring, Oct. 16 at the Susan Denison Mona Center in Temple Hills, and Nov. 20 at the Spanish Catholic Center in Northwest D.C.
Patients must register in advance. They will be contacted by Catholic Charities and scheduled for a timed two-hour appointment. No walk-ups will be taken.
Scenes from the 2019 Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic
Since 2013, Catholic Charities DC has hosted six Mission of Mercy dental clinics, providing more than $3 million in free dental care to 3,750 patients. During the event in 2019, 1,000 adults received dental care they otherwise would not have received thanks to the work of 500 dental professionals and 500 general volunteers and the support of sponsors and partners.
