Volunteer Opportunities: Good Works Needed!

If you're interested in volunteering with us, please contact Mayra Griffiths at (202) 772-4321 or email Mayra.Griffiths@CatholicCharitiesDC.org. We depend on the talents, generosity and passion of volunteers. Even if you only have a few hours a week or month, there is an opportunity for you.

Anchor Mental Health has three volunteer opportunities available immediately to assist adults and children with mental illness and/or behavioral disorders. Our programs focus on diagnosis and management, then move adults towards self-sufficiency with education and employment.

  • Supported Employment: find jobs suitable for clients, market the program in the community, and assist with job coaching
  • Community Support: investigate various places where clients can be in the community and try to find those that have not been seen in awhile
  • ACT Team: serve as companion for clients and monitor appointments

TutorsWhatever your specialty, our adult education program can use your help in teaching subject specific knowledge to adults preparing to take their GED exam.

Food DrivesWe operate food pantries throughout the region and the Southern Maryland Food Bank. Organize a food drive to benefit a pantry or food bank near you.

Clothing DrivesNew or gently used clothing can go a long way for an individual with a job interview or a family who simply cannot afford the new clothes for their children. Many of our housing programs, especially for families, rely on the generosity of others.

Development and CommunicationsFunding and supporting the 90 program of Catholic Charities requires an incredible team effort using a minimal amount of resources. Volunteers who can assist with cleric duties, research and other duties related to event planning, communications, fundraising and general help are greatly appreciated.
