Carl P. Srsic Memorial Fund
If you knew Carl, you knew he loved people. He brought joy to others through his bear hugs, firm handshakes, thoughtful hand-made greeting cards with "X's" and O's" for hugs and kisses sent to family members for just about every type of holiday. Carl, who was born with Down Syndrome in 1960, lived a full and healthy life that endeared him to many. His passing in 2010 from Alzheimer's Disease prompted his family to establish this fund in his memory.

Aging in Place with Grace
The Carl P. Srsic Memorial Fund, administered through the Catholic Charities Foundation, supports the Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Institute and its partners to support aging in place for adults with intellectual developmental disability and dementia, their families and the people who serve them. This will be accomplished with three focuses:
- Develop initiatives that implement and/or evaluate activities that support aging in place
- Support families and individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities and Alzheimer’s disease/related dementia
- Fund caregiver staff education for the Kennedy Institute and its partners
Remembering Carl Srsic
Carl was born July 16, 1960, with Down Syndrome and survived multiple hospitalizations in his first year. He would go on to live a life full of love, laughter and opportunity.
Read the beautiful eulogy celebrating the impact Carl had on all who came into contact with him shared at his funeral. Carl was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease, which set in rapidly when he was in his late 40's. Dementia affects indivduals with intellectual developmental disabilities such as Down Syndrome at a disporportionatley high rate compared with the general population.
