Focusing on overcoming homelessness and substance abuse, the Mulumba House helps bridge the gap between homelessness and permanent housing. This is not an emergency shelter, but instead offers long-term housing and support services focusing on employment and sobriety through intensive case management.
Mulumba House is a permanent supportive housing program for single adult men who are homeless, over the age of 18 and who are currently in recovery for alcohol or drug addiction. Case management services include substance abuse recovery, counseling, relapse prevention, financial counseling, employment counseling, interview referral and resume writing. Residents continuing treatment may remain at the shelter for an unspecified period of time.
Intake: Enrollment in Mulumba House is made through referrals only by a case manager, social worker, psychiatrist, nurse or substance abuse counselor. All applicants must be male, 18 years of age or older, and must currently be in recovery for alcohol or drug addiction. For intake, please call (202) 234-2399.
Donate: Donate today to support Mulumba House right now. Mulumba House knows how to stretch a dime, but residents often need more than monetary support.Donations of men’s professional and work attire are always welcome.
Volunteer: Mulumba House encourages individuals to volunteer as case workers, facility support personnel and clerical support personnel in the main office. Please call (202) 234-2399 for information on how you can get involved.
