Be one of 3,000 walkers for Catholic Charities!

On November 19, 2011, join us on the National Mall for the Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walk and select Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington as your beneficiary. You can sign up here (takes you to the Walkathon homepage, outside of Catholic Charities).

Or you can host a mini-walk (or a mini-basketball game, mini-yoga session) to raise awareness of homelessness and still ensure funds benefit our many housing programs across the region. Contact Kimani Superville at 202-772-4331 to set up your mini-walk today!

Why should you walk?

It's healthy: We already know the great health benefits from regular exercise. But did you know that your exercise can be healthy for our homeless neighbors? By helping Catholic Charities provide shelter and resources to begin rebuilding, you are giving our most vulnerable neighbors the opportunity to live a healthier life independent of poverty.

It's wealthy: Thanks to Fannie Mae's Walker Incentive Program, if 3,000 people walk for Catholic Charities, we will earn a $50,000 grant. Given the challenging budget shortfalls facing our regional governments, this is a crucial time to secure the resources to serve our neighbors without a home.

It's wise: A community can only reach its full potential when all of its members are cared for and given the opportunity to succeed. By walking on November 19, you are working to provide a better future for our neighbors without a home and ensure that the safety net is intact when someone falls into crisis.
